My NYC haul or Bang went the money

Hi everyone!

Here I am, back from my trip to the States! Can't believe how quickly time passed by and I was a bit sad when I had to leave because I really had a good time over there. The first 4 days I stayed at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories on Long Island. It is an incredibly nice place, I can already see myself working there after my PhD studies, haha. It is the first university I know that has its own beach and fitness room. The weather was great, warm and sunny but unfortunately I spent most of my time in the auditorium as I was there for a scientific meeting. Yet I had lots of fun. 

Afterwards I went to New York City and what can I say? I am really impressed, I haven't seen anything like this before! Such a huge, loud and busy city but people there were friendly and nice. I had a blast going sightseeing and shopping over there. On my way from Long Island to NYC I stopped by at Ulta in Queens where I did the most damage to my wallet.... Oh wait, that was actually at the Apple Store in Midtown but that is a whole different story. So here I put together some shots of what I got at Ulta, Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens and Ricky's. Some good news & some bad news

Hi everyone!

So first the bad news: I will be on a two weeks hiatus from now on... 

The good news: I am spending the upcoming two weeks in the USA :D I am sooo excited already! First I am going to Long Island to attend a conference to present my work and after this I will stay in NYC for a couple of days. Whooot, I cannot wait! This is my first trip overseas and I hope the flight will be good and the jetlag won't be too bad... Apart from that I am looking forward to sight-seeing and of course shopping over there!

Whimsical Ideas By Pam - Hatched

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I finally have for you the manicure I had initially planned to wear on Easter. Didn't work out that way due to lack of time but shortly after the holidays I finally put this nail polish on. This is another indie polish called Hatched made by Pam from Whimsical Ideas. I am in love with her creation, it is perfect for Spring.

Good evening everyone!

The Legend begins with a kingdom tormented by a fierce monster who nests at the land's spring. In exchange for water and peace, the beast was fed virginal maidens, chosen by drawing lots. 

This refers to Dragon from a-England's The Legends collection. This fierce monster is a really pretty one though. Dragon is a mossy green with a copperish shimmer and a subtle holographic effect.

Howdy everyone!

And wow, I just woke up this morning seeing my blog has reached 200 followers via GFC. This is awesome, thank you so much everyone for following ! Your support really means a lot to me and seeing all those people who are interested in the stuff I am blogging about is like the icing on the cake!

Well, I know it seems like everyone is doing a giveaway lately and still I decided to jump on the bandwagon and host one myself. I just feel like the circumstances and the time is right for it ;) It's not only that My Polish Stash has reached 200 followers but it is also my 1st year anniversary here (well, almost as I published my first post in June 2011). Aaaand to make things even better I am going overseas very soon! I am going to New York City - first for work and then for a few days off and I am so excited already! I have never been to the US but I am sure I will have a blast! :D

Easter Manicure & Review: Nostalgic Lacquer - Blane over OPI - Planks A Lot

Hi everyone

and happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great time celebrating Easter and those who did not celebrate hopefully had a great 4-day-weekend! We did not really celebrate Easter but yet I enjoyed the time with families and friends that goes along with it. And of course I did some Easter themed manicure this weekend. Well, it didn't turn out as Easter-ish as I had planned. Due to lack of time I dismissed my plans to wear a pretty pastel yellow glitter polish and went with a layering instead. Don't worry, that pastel polish will be painted onto my nails any time soon as it is just perfect for Spring *teaser* 

A while ago I ordered some polishes from Nostalgic Lacquer, another independent polish brand, and when they finally arrived I couldn't wait to try them on. So my "plan B" Easter manicure was Nostalgic Lacquer Blane over Planks A Lot from OPI.

Bring on the bling: Essence Color & Go - Gold Fever

Hi everyone!

Today I have for you a swatch of one of the new Essence Color & Go shades for Spring/Summer 2012. It is called Gold Fever and it is a clear base loaded with golden microglitter and small round golden glitter. The golden glitter is speckled with small red glitter. If I see right it even is square red glitter and there seems to by some red microglitter as well. See for yourself and read on after the jump!

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you might have seen me posting all those nail mail pictures of indie polish brands lately. What can I say, they're all so gorgeous! I keep stalking Etsy to not miss the re-opening of the stores because all those swatches on other blogs make me drool over those polishes. One of those brands that really got me hooked is Dollish Polish. She makes custom nail polishes inspired by movies, TV series or music. While I was browsing her shop I saw a polish named Team Salvatore and I instantly knew I needed this in my life. Not only because I love The Vampire Diaries but also because it is an awesome glitter polish! As it is glitter suspended in a clear base this one is made for layering. And to match the vampire theme and the colors of Team Salvatore I painted it over red and black.
