Nerd Lacquer - All Of Time And Space

Hi everyone

and happy Saturday! Hopefully you're enjoying your weekend so far.
First of all I would like to say thank you for all your happy birthday wishes and all the responses to my last post. Further I would like to welcome all my new readers on my blog, it's great to have you here!

Today I have another of my beloved Nerd Lacquers for you today which is All Of Time And Space. I can't help it but I am in love with those indie polishes popping up on Etsy. I admit I have bought way more of those custom blended polishes than polishes from big brands lately. They are just so unique and different from what I see in stores right now! Nerd Lacquer is one of my favorite independent brands so far as I have 12 of her polishes by now which are all gorgeous glitter polishes. All Of Time And Space is no exception. It is a pretty pale mint green base that is loaded with silver and fuchsia glitter of different shapes and sizes.

Birthday Manicure: Essence - Mojito Green topped with Cover Band - Sticks 'n Stones

Hi y'all!

Yes, as the title implies it is my birthday today. I am turning 28... geeez, time really passes quick and I am getting old *lol*. But let's not worry about age now. Initially I had planned to do a special manicure or some nail art for today but I just liked the one I applied the day before so much that I decided to leave it on. I am wearing Essence's Mojito Green from the current Soul Sista Limited Edition. To spice this polish up a bit I applied one coat of Cover Band's Sticks 'n Stones. I am in love with this bold and eye catching combination!

Max Factor - Fantasy Fire over Essie - Aruba Blue

Hi everyone!

Today I have a polish for you I have really been looking forward to wearing myself from the moment I saw the first swatches. I am talking of Max Factor's Max Effect nail polish Fantasy Fire! This little beauty has been highly anticipated by the nail polish community as it is close to the long discontinued Clarins 230 or Urban Decay Toxin multichrome polishes - also known as Unicorn Pee ;) Scrangie has some great comparisions here and it turns out that Fantasy Fire is not an exact dupe for the afore mentioned polishes. The only problem was: How shall I get my hands on this pretty polish as it has only been released in the UK so far. Gladly there are lots of friendly nail polish lovers out there and the lovely Esther from FabFingertips hunt this one down for me. Thanks again lady, you made another nail polish fanatic very happy :D
Before you click "read more" I have to worn you that this is going to be a picture heavy post as the multichrome shimmer was so hard to capture in all its beauty and I took pictures under several lighting conditions. Ready for some beautyful multichrome shimmer? Here we go!

Essie - Aruba Blue

Happy Saturday everyone!

The nail polish I have for you today has been around for a while but I only discovered it recently and fell in love with it from the minute I painted the first coat onto my nails. I am talking about Essie Aruba Blue. This is an amazing cobalt blue with intense shimmer.

Winter Farewell: Rescue Beauty Lounge - Catherine

Good evening!

I hope all is well at your end of the world! Today is the first official day of Spring but I have one more Fall shade to show you.
I show you a nail polish from a brand that is completely new in my stash. I got my first Rescue Beauty Lounge polish in an - I dare saying epic - swap with Bridget from Polish Oh My. Thanks again girl, always a pleasure to swap with you ;) If you like nail polish, make-up and cars I recommend visiting her blog!
She sent me her backup bottle of Catherine, which was released as a part of RBL's Fall 2010 collection. This collection was a Limited Edition and retailed for $18 a bottle. Only recently the price increased to $20 so this polish is one of the most expensive ones I own. Was it worth the money? See for yourself!

Catrice - Marilyn & Me: Another favorite bright red of mine

Happy Sunday everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend and a nice time celebrating St. Patrick's Day! Here in Germany St. Patrick's Day isn't a big deal, still I wanted to do some appropiate manicure for this day as I love greens of all sorts. I already have to say that it didn't work out that way. Yesterday was a good friend of mine's wedding. I had chosen to go with a black dress with white polks dots that reminded me of the 50s. I also needed some new shoes and I ended up buying some heels from Irregular Choice  - I haven't heard from that brand before but I love them as they have lots of crazy designs! Those heels had a deep red heart on top so I thought green nails would not go with that so well. Instead I pulled out one of the very few bright reds I own, which was Marilyn & Me from Catrice. First I thought it would be a bit too much for a wedding but then I thought that bright red nails would match my 50s inspired outfit. I don't know if I succeeded in matching everything but I included a photo of yesterday's outfit for you to judge :)

Another Long Forgotten Beauty: Manhattan QuickDry - 85 Rainforest Green

Hi lovelies,

I found another long forgotten nail polish that I just have to show you because I like it a lot - although I didn't even know I had it sitting in my stash until recently, haha. This is one of three Manhattan nail polishes I own. When I go to the drugstore nowadays I do not really pay much attention to their products because I think their nail polish range doesn't carry anything special for me. However as a teenager I bought several of their polishes because they were affordable. I remember I even had a brownish glitter polish that glowed under blacklight but threw this away some time ago because the color was horrible ;)
Anyway, today's Long Forgotten Beauty is from Manhattan's QuickDry 60 seconds range and has the number 85. On the internet I found the name Rainforest Green but I don't know if this is the official name.

Long Forgotten Beauty: Essence Top Speed - Paparazzi

Hello my dear reader,

while re-organizing my stash recently I found some bottles of nail polish that have been sitting in the back of my Alex drawers for quite a while and that I've nearly forgotten about. I decided to give those "losties" another try and show them to you. One of those polishes is Essence - Top Speed (16) Paparazzi, a pretty black with holo glitter in it. Under indirect lighting in my lightbox this one looks like a black with simple silver glitter in it. When the light directly hits the nails, those glitter particles sparkle really nice! To see this, read on after the jump!

Long Forgotten Beauty: L'Oreal Resist & Shine Titanium - Black Ruby (734)

Happy Sunday everyone!

Last week I got some of those anti-slip mats to put into my Alex drawers so that my polish bottles won't slide around anymore. For this, I had to take out all my polishes and I found some that I purchased long back and which have been resting in the back of the drawer ever since. So I decided to put those on again and show them to you. The first one I have for you is by L'Oreal from their Resist & Shine Titanium Black series. This is one of the three L'Oreal polishes I own because whenever I saw their polishes in the drugstore I did not really like them as the colors weren't really my cup of tea. However they released the Titanium Black series a while ago and it contained three polishes which caught my attention. Black Ruby or No. 734 was one of them.

Zoya - Tao

Good evening and happy Friday!

Another week full of work is done and I hope everyone is fine out there! After a busy week I will take those two days off from stress and worries and relax a bit and do the things I love - which would be polishing my nails in the first place, haha. I also bought some goodies to make those pretty nail polish rings I keep seeing everywhere. I like the idea of having a matching ring to my manicure so I will give it a try. I will let you know how it works out ;)

Today I have another Zoya polish to show you. Tao was released as part of the Smokes & Mirrors collection in Fall 2011. The color is a smoky grey with fine silver shimmer.

Zoya - Norra

Hi everyone!

Only recently I purchased my first Zoya polishes and among them was Norra, because the description on the official Zoya homepage sounded tempting:

Zoya Nail Polish in Norra can be best described as: Deep, dramatic brown-toned vampy wine burgundy with barely-perceptible silver microshimmer. A dramatic vampy wine that's softened with a hidden shimmer.
It says deep and vampy, what else do I need? I just love dark vampy Fall shades and this one did not disappoint.

Nerd Lacquer - Quasar or My new love for indie brands

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I have for you the very first independent nail polish brand on my blog! It seems like those Franken polishes are becoming more and more popular - just think of Lynnderella polishes which create havoc among nail polish lovers and sell out in the blink of an eye whenever they're put online. I have to admit I would like to own and try some of her awesome glitter polishes, too but so far I it is too much of a hassle for me to order them. Since I am residing in Germany I don't want to get up in the middle of the night just to try to get some. Instead I found several alternatives which are just as pretty, cheaper and much easier to get. Oh well, maybe alternative isn't the right word as I don't consider those other indie brands "second choice". They all have their own concept and don't aim to copy Lynn's idea.
I can't exactly remember how or where but I stumbled upon Nerd Lacquer polishes a while ago and fell in love immediatly! I don't consider myself a nerd *lol* but as a scientist I just gotta love the names and themes of those glittery polishes and of course the way they look. The first one I tried is Quasar, which is a dark green stuffed with all sorts of glitter, but see for yourself :)
