China Glaze - Some Like It Haute .... oooooh yes!

Good evening everyone!

Long time no see. I haven't blogged as often as usual these days as it's really been a busy week for me. As a PhD student I have to do a certain amount of teaching Bachelor students and this time those nine students kept me on the go all day long. So I am more than glad that it's Friday which means I can relax a bit and then go back to my own work on Monday.

Today I have for you another Winter shade which is Some Like It Haute by China Glaze. This one came out as one of six 3D Eyecandy Glitters in Winter 2011 and I finally wore it last week.

NOTD & Welcome a new brand: Zoya - Cynthia

Hi everyone!

Today I have for you one of my very first Zoya nail polishes! I have seen so many swatches of that brand but I could never find an online source that ships internationally for a reasonable price. Then I discovered Salenail who sells a lot of Zoya polishes and I finally caved and ordered seven shades from different collections (plus a couple of China Glazes and OPIs). Now that I am thinking about it I think I bought waaay to much nail polish this month *lol* Maybe you are interested in seeing my latest hauls and swaps? I got some Nerd Lacquers, Llarowe polishes, lots of Essences and so on.... Just let me know! OK, so back to the Nail Of The Day. When I told Danny from Polish Chest that I got Zoya's Cynthia along with my order she asked me to show some swatches on my blog. Ta-daaa, here they are! I hope you enjoy them.

Comparison Post - Chanel Peridot Vs Douglas Absolute Nails Fireworks

Hello everyone

and happy Sunday! Since the weather outside is quite depressing - it's cold, windy and raining all day long - I took the time to keep up with the blogs I follow and blog a little myself. I took the pictures for today's blog about 6 weeks ago but because of the Christmas Challenge I participated in I could not find the time to post this earlier.
I am showing you a comparison between Chanel Le Vernis Peridot and Douglas Absolute Nails Fireworks. I bought Peridot during last year's vacation in Spain and I stumbled upon Fireworks while browsing my local Douglas perfumery. A couple of months ago they released their own nail polish line called Absolute Nails and there were quite a number of pretty colors. When I saw Fireworks I instantly knew I had to pick it up and compare it to Peridot. I know there are a couple of close shades and the "dead on dupe" Diving In Malaysia from Sephora, but since I don't have access to Sephora I thought this would be a "low-budget" alternative. So let's start this off with a couple of bottle shots! And I have to warn you, this is going to be a picture heavy post ;) To see them all, continue reading after the break!

Got the moody blues: Icing Mood Swing polish - Serene/Stormy

Happy Saturday!

First week of work for this new year is done, hope you got through it fine! The weather here is freaking me out, it's been raining and stormy for days now and there's not a lot you can do outside.  So I'll spend this weekend swatching and blogging :)

Today I have for you a polish I got as an extra in my very first MakeUpAlley swap a while ago and I was really happy to find this included in my package! It is a Mood Swing Polish by Icing and the color is called Serene/Stormy. This polish is supposed to change colors depending on the temperature of your hands or outside. Here is a picture of the cool color Serene which is a pretty blue that leans towards purple with teal shimmer.

Happy New Year & NYE mani with Butter London HRH and Kleancolor Chunky Holo Bluebell

Hello everyone

and welcome to 2012! I hope you had a great New Year's Eve and a good start into this new year! I am already back at work, could have needed a few more days off though. The good thing about 2012 is that I will finally finish work for my PhD thesis in April - if my boss lets me - so keep your fingers crossed for me please :)

Today I show you the manicure I wore for NYE. Initially I had planned to put on one of the China Glaze Eye Candy Glitter polishes but then my boyfriend wanted to pick a polish for me. And I have to say he has an excellent taste ;) He chose Butter London's HRH which is a perfect purple with blue und red shimmer. I liked the polish worn solo a lot but for the last day of the year I wanted to add something sparkly and eye-catching. I tried several glittery polishes on top and ended up using Kleancolor's Chunky Holo Bluebell which I haven't used in quite a while... almost forgot how smelly these polishes are but the result paid off for that :)
